At Empower, we believe that strong communities are built through compassion, connection, and action. Rooted in Surrey, BC, we serve as a trusted support system for youth, women, new immigrants, international students, and underserved individuals navigating new beginnings in Canada.
From skill-building programs to hot meals, job fairs to cultural celebrations, we strive to uplift and include. Every week, every handshake, and every shared meal brings us closer to our mission: to empower people to thrive.
Our Story
Empower Community Service Society, Non-Profit Organization
Empower Community Service Society is a volunteer-run nonprofit that exists to fill the critical gaps faced by youth, women, newcomers and students — especially those struggling with isolation, food insecurity, or lack of local networks.
Founded by community leaders who personally understand these struggles, Empower brings together passionate volunteers, professionals, and partners committed to making British Columbia a more inclusive, nourished, and connected place.

Weekly Meal Program
Every week, we prepare and serve freshly cooked, hot meals to international students and immigrants facing food insecurity. It also offer comfort, dignity, and connection.
Employment Access & Job Fairs
In partnership with employers, we host career fairs, workshops, and mock interviews, helping job seekers build confidence and secure employment.

What is the SettleSmart Mentorship Program?
SettleSmart is our community-driven mentorship initiative designed to support international students and newcomers as they transition into life, education, and career pathways in British Columbia.
To connect newcomers with the right guidance, the right community, and the right opportunities—at the right time.
Whether you're navigating your first job search, understanding immigration pathways, building confidence, or adapting to Canadian culture, SettleSmart provides personalized support through experienced mentors who have walked the same journey.
